What is an Account, CLABE, or IBAN?

  1. Account: The beneficiary’s bank account number.
  2. CLABE (Mexico): Used for accounts in Mexico; consists of 18 digits.
  3. IBAN: International Bank Account Number used in foreign countries to identify bank accounts. It consists of alphanumeric characters.

Popular Puerto Rico does not use IBAN; only the 9-digit account number is used.
